With danger around every corner why is it that so many groups are getting together in vast numbers to protest, visit the sea-side or go shopping?
I suspect it’s boredom! We are desperate to get out of lockdown and get back to where we were before, and in business, that is a great shame.
We should not be trying to get back to where we were before; we should be looking for better – much better.
The vast majority of the business community have been hard at work and the three months of lockdown have just flown by. They have all learned new skills, developed new attitudes, they have proved themselves to be resilient and just won’t give up. Many have had to go back to school days and re-discover the maths that we have never, ever used!
Relationships have been lost for sure, but also relationships have been built and strengthened. Customers have been telephoned, Zoomed and written to. The offer of support – financial, emotional or just saying, “Hi”, have made us all realise that we are people people and we need each other.
I have tried to telephone every Pinpoint customer and most have responded and been cheerful. Lots were unavailable and, where possible, I left a message.
It’s the personal contact that is the key and I really look forward to being able to meet people face to face again.
New strategies have to be generated. Different ways of implementing sales growth are opened up across borders. We are better equipped. Whilst Zoom will be used more frequently, we will still treasure proper meetings but only if they are better run than they used to be!
The research we have carried out showed that about half of the people interviewed said that over 50% of meeting time was wasted time. That has to stop and we at Pinpoint will do all we can to stop it.
