Healthy Eating In The Office

Are your clothes feeling a little snug? Or are you feeling sluggish? This article is a guide on how to make healthy eating in the office easier.

1. Salads don’t Need to be Boring

Substituting your normal BLT sandwich meal deal lunch for a wholesome salad will do wonders for both stopping the mid-afternoon crash, and your waistline.

Preparation is key; prepare 2-3 days at a time to lighten your evening load. We also suggest mixing it up to keep it interesting. By this we don’t mean chucking a few limp lettuce leaves and a slice of cucumber into a salad box.

Why not add hardboiled eggs, lean meats or avocados into the mix?

2. Winter Warmers your Waistline will Love

If you’ve got a microwave in the office, this one is for you. There are a whole host of different foods, which are easy to make, as well as safe to reheat.

From meat, rice and vegetables to hearty and filling soups, there are hundreds of combinations for winter warmer lunches.

TIP: Don’t necessarily go for the lowest calorie options when buying soups. They are full of rubbish and you want to feel full afterwards to prevent you from diving into the biscuit tin later.

3. Snacks your Jeans will Thank You for

Swapping crisps and cereal bars for vegetable crudités with tzatziki or hummus is the perfect example of substituting sugary snacks for more filling and wholesome mid-morning or afternoon bites.

Here is a list of our top snacks for the office:

  • Handful of raw cashews or almonds
  • Vegetable crudités with dip e.g. homemade tzatziki or guacamole
  • Peanut butter (no seed oil) on apple/banana slices
  • Fresh fruit
  • A few squares of dark chocolate

4. Water is your New Best Friend

You should be drinking no less than 2-3 litres of water per day.

We wouldn’t expect you to cut your caffeine intake altogether, but we definitely suggest lowering it. One caffeinated drink in the morning & one in the afternoon is our recommendation. If you can’t live without fizzy drinks, why not swap them for sparkling water?
